Mahak and the Final Countdown

Share

We came back from the seaside on Thursday evening. As always, the day we wanted to leave, the weather was the best of the whole week. A small breeze was caressing the leaves, the sun was shining high and the sea was almost like a swimming pool. We went to the beach one last time and I got into an argument with the (only Islamic) supervisor of the beach. This will be a story of its own and I will write about it one other time.

The marathon week has already started. This is the last week I am here and I have to meet a lot of friends and do some shopping. I feel like I am a doctor and I have to give appointments! As much as I like to spend time my friends, I long for some time alone, to walk around the city and deal with my nostalgic feelings. I know … I am a bit of a solo-type.

Yesterday, I was invited to go to a concert in support of Mahak (someone should volunteer to improve their website), a charity organization for supporting children with cancer. I am not going to write about this organization, someone has done it before, but the concert was cool. It was organized by the alumni of Tehran University’s technical school. It took place in a big amphitheater and the performances were by some of the current and past students. I guess most of the audience were students of the same university.

Mahak Concert Audience

They played some classical, folk and pop music such as Let it be, Love story, Albinoni’s Adagio, Gol e Goldoon, etc. on piano, daf, guitar and violin. I, personally am in love with daf, here is a movie I took. Another fun piece for piano.

The concert went on for almost 4 hours! and I guess a lot of donations took place for Mahak. Helping people to deal with their sick child is one of the most honorable jobs. I wish Mahak and all their sponsors courage and success.
